Post [Q] 944T engine to 924?

My friend has a '78 924. He's going to implant '86 944 turbo engine in it. Is it Okay? I think it needs lots of modification. Please give me a advice.

Its a waste of time. It will end up costing more than an 86T and it will still look like an old 924. My advice is to get a 944 turbo with all of its obvious benefits and forget about the old 924.

Wheee!!! Sounds like a real suicide box, if all he transplants is the engine & accessories needed to make it run...

'78 924... small front disc brakes, smaller rear drums; 4-lug spindles & wheels... suspension designed for about 115 hp (???).

Early 944T... pretty big four-pot discs on all four, five lug wheels, designed to cope with 217 hp..

Now, done _right_, with a complete drivetrain & suspension transplant (I dunno if it's even possible, but with enough ingeniuity & cash...), it ought go like stink. I dunno where the intercooler & external oil cooler will go; havent't a clue about suspension interchangability; gonna be a trick fitting adequate tires under the stock fenders... etc... but it ought to freakin' fly!

He may want to investigate what mods the factory made for the early 924 Turbos & GTP (? or GTR?) cars.

Jim, this is gonna be interestin'....

It is a common transplant for people who want Carrera GT/GT-S/GT-R look-alike cars. Most people used a top-mounted intercooler.
