Question Replacing head

Any experience on replacing the head on an '83 944 NA? I have the general procedure from Haynes but am looking for any specific firsthand experience out there. Thanks!

After re-assembly, you'll need some way to adjust the tension on the timing & balance shaft belts. Or you can take a small risk & do it by feel, then go immendiately to a shop with the magic factory tool. If you go this route, you can leave the upper plastic belt cover off & reduce the labor time a little.

And remember to get them retensioned in 1-2K miles, assuming new belts.

One good tip I like is to remove the exhaust manifolds after the head is off. Just unbolt them from the downpipe underneath & lift them off still attached to the cyl head.
