Metal in motor oil, origin unknown. Need ideas

You would say correct. My phone takes horrible pics, I was trying to show how there was not any big pieces of anything in the oil. You can see the oil that is running off the filter is contaminated, but there are not any big pieces.

Yea it's the oil filter. When the crank snapped in half it ground the bearing down. I cut open the oil filter and I found the rest of my engine!
