Post 944 turns over but won't start

So, I'm driving back to school (190 miles or so) and I stop 30 miles outside of Champaign for gas. (tank was at about 1/4, not empty). 20 miles down the road, the engine stumbles, and right as I pull into the parking lot it dies. I had the obvious thought, either bad gas or dirty gas clogging the fuel filter, but the local NAPA can't get me a filter till Tuesday. Any other ideas? It'll turn over strong, doesn't seem like an electrical problem, but it won't catch.

I guess if I have time to kill later I'll pull the fuel rail and see if there's actually gas coming out of the injectors.

DevilDog,

Spray some ether in the intake manifold. If it fires up ignition is OK.

You didn't say what kind of car you have. If earlyt 944, if fuel pump relay quit, you won't have ignition or fuel.
