Default Need some tips for pulling engine at the junkyard

I want to remove a 944 engine at the junkyard, and the front end has been hit so there is less clearance in the front than normal.

Normally I unbolt the TT from the bellhousing and move the engine forward until the driveshaft is out. I was wondering if I could do something differently that would need less movement forward. Like maybe unbolting the bellhousing from the engine, and unbolting the PP through the starter hole?

I really don't want to drop the transmission to move the torque tube back, but if nothing else works, I will.

If you're about to tell me to just cut the front off of the car, I don't have a sawzall.

(Just read the last part sorry, i would buy a sawzall or barrow one and proceed) I would take a sawzall and cut the front of the car out of the way. Make sure you take a few extra blades and a fully charged battery. My brother in law and I did this on a 931 (after I cut the nose panel and took the hood off) wasn't that bad to cut through the frame rails, took like 10 min.

+1 on sawzall.

Remove front clip, attach engine hoist, remove engine.

You can definitely do this and it requires much less movement forward of the engine. Make sure you can get the clutch fork out and turn the engine over manually to get to all the bolts.

+85.5 on the sawzall All the other ideas are ok, but nothing like the sound of a sawzall in a junkyard.

If sawzall is out, what about a plasma cutter?

I would remove the transmission pull the torque tube back and drop the engine out the bottom of the car (takes time but save you money)

Holy ****, what part of "I don't have a sawzall" do you all not understand??

I ended up trying the method in the first post and it worked great. I didn't even have to touch the cross member. I'm pulling engines like this from now on.
