Post Another 944. The wife's gonna kill me.

Well,
The guy at the Smog Test shop told me about a 944 sitting in the back of someone's yard because the guy just bought a '94 Corvette. So, I went by and peaked over the fence and left a note on his door. He called back. It's an '83 with 138K miles. He's asking $1,500. I'm going by Sunday afternoon for a better look and a possibly a test drive. What does everbody think? Am I wasting my time?

Thumbs up

I just did the same thing. I have an 89 930 and recently picked up an 83 944 from a guy who had bought it to fix up, but got too heavily involved in reconditioning a vette, so he put it up for sale. It has 106,000 and I got it for $800. Told my very understanding wife that I couldn't pass it up, The parts are worth more than that. It needed a clutch (almost done) a motor mount (done) and strut inserts (done). I have about $1400 (including the car)into it now and it is mechanically done after fluid changes, it just needs a little paint. I plan on autocrossing it with my sons, so it won't hurt so much if something breaks on it.

Don't know if I'm foolish or not. I was thinking of using the '83 as a daily driver. The '84 is in need of some downtime to effect repairs. Now autocrossing one of the two is an idea. Been wanting to do it for a while.

What I'd really like to do is buy the '91 S2 Cab and keep the '84. But the guy with the S2 wants $18K <img src="graemlins/crying.gif" border="0" alt="[crying]" />
