THIS make sure your oil pump drive gear isn't slipping. I hope you didn't forget the o ring.

another possibility is oil pressure relief valve. mine failed all of a sudden. Actually the sleeve in the block that it rides on came loose from the block and I got zero oil pressure.

I think you're onto the issue. Once you've installed all the seals and properly aligned the pulleys and torqued them to the proper specs, you should be out of the woods.

Lets hope running the engine without pressure counts as a really quick break in.

So, I got a 5 foot pipe and put that on the handle and came in from the top to torque the bolt. It's essential to get that bolt tight or the oil pump won't work. Let us know how you've done.

Definitely a flywheel lock.
How much torque is req'd to move/crank the engine by "hand"?
In other words, when seeking TDC, how many lb/ft is required to turn our engines? ( N/A)

good info, but in this case with Eric , its almost definitely the oil pump slippage.

hopefully we will know soon enough.

It doesn't take much torque to turn the motor, especially with the plugs out. A normal hand wrench will do it. For convenience sake I use a torque wrench with a socket but it doesn't take much torque.

Woooooooot! It worked. It was the crank bolt. And that engine is sounding gooooooooood. Wonder if those new rod bearings could be doing that. Tks all for your help. Now I got to find that vacuum leak lol
