Post tire sizes

I was thinking about buying 16 inch rims for my 86 944. would boxter tires that are of sizes 16" 225/50 and 205/55 and rims that are size 7/16"and 6/16" fit my car? I now have the 15 inch phone dials on it.

thanks,
Judd

Hello Judd, the 1986 Porsches have the early offset,1987 and later have the late offset.I am not a expert but I believe you can use the Boxster wheels but you will have to purchase spacers in addition to the wheels.

Your car's offset is different than the Boxter's. You will have to get spacers w/ longer studs or adapters w/ the studs built in. As for rim size, the optional 16" rims on that year 944 were 16x8 rear and 16x7 front. By the time you're done buying everything, your cost will be close to or equal to custom offset 3 piece wheels that do not need spacers. Just a thought.

I suggest you find some Fuchs in 7x16 and 8x16. A set will cost you anywhere from $500-1,000. IMHO it will be money well spent.

I'll second Tabor's response. If you find a source for 7&8x16 Fuchs under $700, GRAB THEM. Also 911 wheels fit an '86 NA better than 951 wheels.

Hey the Fuchs are sweet as far as unsprung weight is concerned. I think the Fikse's are the Bomb. Save your money...drop 2500$ on Fikses.

Tire size on stock 16s 225/45 and 245/45 is what I am using on my 951. On my n/a I have 225/50/15 competition rubber on all four Fuchs.

Enjoy.
