how often do you change your oil?

I change mine 3-4K myself. I use Mobil one 15W50. My local Porsche parts manager gives me a good price on filters by the case.
I agree about feeling like good oil is being wasted....I put the used oil in my van and in our plow truck...So I dont mind keeping fresh oil in my baby.

3000 - 5000 miles or when the weather gets to hot or cold for the grade of oil in the car.
Oil changes are cheap insurance. Besides, I have a good excuse for a test drive!

like Renntag, i use 15w-50 and mobile 1 for the na. i just changed it 4-5 days ago after 4000 miles (should be 3k) and I only got out 2.5 qts. out of the engine, and it didn't look pretty. i'm not sure what was in there before, but i go through oil on a regular basis. what's going on here, worn piston rings..?

On all my cars I use Mobil1 15W50, (93 Passat VR6, 88 Jetta 1.8, 88 Mustang 2.3 and my two 944s) I cahnge the oil every 7-8K with a filter change at 3-4K. I use Mobil1 oil filters. I keep my cars forever, usually well over 200K (the Jetta has 230K on it now, original clutch, no plans to get rid of the car) and I have never had an internal engine problem.
