I just thought that'd be a cool production car.
944 everything, and 968 engine. But most definately redesin the headlight system to be more like a 'vette or ferrari w/ the slight raise & smaller bulbs .

Actually, Porsche had one of these, almost. It was a 944 S2 body with a 968 engine and a 968 rear bumper. They were going to call it the 944 S3. But then they changed the front end look and called it the 968.

Tabor,

You are a wealth of knowledge. Where did you find that out? A book?

I don't remember where I read that they were planning on calling the 968 the 944S3. But I found a scanned news article with a picture of a 944 with a 968 back end. It was taken at one of the Porsche development places.

Matt: Here are some sites that talk about how the 944S3 turned into the 968:

Or because I am bit partial to turbos 968 body plus 951 Engine (maybe even a 3L Turbo). Yes I do know they made them, but I would still love to do the conversion for my own daily driver, we can all dream.

i recommend to everyone that book that maybe even a few us have already, called, "original porsche 924/944/968" by peter morgan, mbi publishing. it's around 35 clams and has a wealth of info that makes for interesting reading on our cars. i often refer to it when reading these threads.

Here's some more Porsche numbers trivia...

The 924S was originally going to be called the "942".
