Post OT: Ferrari 288 GTO auction....

We are always pointing out the stupid auctions that are up on ebay, but here is one that I am in awe over.

288 GTO on E-bay

This add says 273 were built, I thought it was 278, but what ever. In any case someone decided to put up this ultra rare (and my personal favorite car ever) up to auction on ebay. But really what a great car. Little known fact is that the 288 GTO was originally designed to go into Groupe B Rally competition on the tarmac stages, but then that class was abandoned but the produced a few anyway.
2600 lbs, 400 hp, huge brembo brakes (essentially where we would all like to have our 944's) top speed of 189 mph.

Sorry for the off topic post, but I love these cars.

Beautiful! I have seen alot of 308's converted into the 288 GTO series. I still like the late 328's for the money and style.

Luke I'm with you on the 348s - beautiful styling to me. A friend of mine that supposedly knows Ferraris related that the 348s were not as high quality aproduct as the 328 or 355 series. Have you evr heard this? Seems like there was a shorter run on the 348 model. There are always a few pretty good deals here in Fla on these cars. Sooner or later...

If your gonna go that far with a 348 mise well just get a F355. Very beautiful car as well just spend a few extra over the 348 to have one. There is nothing like the note of a Ferrari exhaust. Pure AWESOME!

YES, I actually read this in FORZA the official Ferrari MAG. The 348's were the first can that was made on a production line and a bunch of small parts break down. I hear the inside door panels actually crease , dent, tear, and all that other good stuff that ferraris shouldn't do. I still love them though. There's something really unique about the sound of the motor. Really high stung, but so much more "melodious" than the "strangling a cat" tone the lotus Turbo esprits make.
