You won't have to worry about Christmas if you are dead! This is a no brainer...get it checked out. If it is not safe, do not drive it! Don't be so ignorant when it comes to being safe!

Reiteration of control arm recommendation. GET THEM REPLACED PRONTO.

Control arms hold your wheel perpendicular to the road surface, and are under the most stress/strain when taking corners at speed. Consequently, when the ball joints fail, what happens is your wheel typically flops outward, tearing your shock tower and suspension to pieces, the front of the car dives and scrapes the ground, and you lose all sense of control. Also, when it happens, it's usually when you're going FAST around a CURVE. Recipe for disaster? YES. That's why the control arm replacement/rebuild/maintenance routine is so important.

Don't dilly-dally around. If yours are "crunching" when you hit bumps or turns, you're WAAAAAYY past the safe point.
