85.5 to 86 n/a 944 performance & shop recommendation
I'm new to this forum, & this is my first post. An archive search turned up nothing; so apologies in advance if any of this has been covered before.
I want to replace my '86 Alfa Spider with something that has a little more guts, & the 944 came to mind. In order to get a car in excellent condition, my budget dictates that I will have to go with an ealier car. However, I've had more than one person tell me that these cars, while they handle great, are actually not that fast. As I don't plan to modify the car, other than perhaps a cat-back exhaust & K&N, this has me concerned that the 944 may not be what I'm looking for. I have not been able to find 0 to 60 & 1/4 mile numbers for an early, stock 944. Can someone provide these figures for an 85.5 or 86 model?
The '98 Jetta GLX that I used to own did 0 to 60 in about 7 flat, & that is what I'm after.
Also, if someone could recommend a good shop in the Houston area for a pre-purchase inspection, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks!
