Post Quick tie rod question

Just replaced a control arm on my 951 with 120K miles. Noticed that the rubber boots on both tie rod ends are split open. The steering mechanism is tight, no funky noises but since I'm going to get an alignment anyway does anyone think it would be a good idea to replace the rods with this amount of mileage? Or can I buy time by cleaning out the joints and either getting replacement boots or sealing the ones on there with some silicon/rubber sealant? Anybody know how long those joints last? Thanks

Mike

If the inner/outter tie rods are tight...dont mess with it....as far as the bellowes is concerned, that is available and should be replaced to ensure the life of the inner, plus you have to remove the outter to install it. (possibly changing your alignment). So its best to fix the cracked boot (bellowes) now.

Appreciate the input. The bellows are new since I had to replace the steering rack recently. If only all this stuff would happen at the same time!

Yeah, with all that insight i should just go ahead and replace my entire engine Actually, that's what I plan on doing as soon as this one bites the bullit. It'd be nice to have a squeaky clean freshly built 400 HP dynamo in there wouldn't it? Besides, realistically what other car would you rather drive - a mustang? Rented a brand new one of those PoS last week. No thanks
