Post What is cannister under left front fender

What is cannister under left front fender just ahead of the door bulkhead and behind the left front wheel well? If you've not had the fender liner (or fender) off then you probably haven't seen it. It has two hoses on it. One runs to some other vac hose near the electrical box and the other back and exits to the atmosphere on the bottom of the car. I note that the hose exiting to open underneath the car is connected to a fitting labeled in/ein. Dirty air underneath the car and behind the front wheel doesn't seem where one would want to take in air, so ...

... the more important part of this question is, what should the hose routing be, and which hose to which connection.

Thanks in advance

(looking forward to installing my newly painted fender. -- YES!!!

That is your charcoal cannister. It's part of your emission system. Make sure all the hoses are secure, unbroken and properly routed.
