Default 944 gauge questions

Was looking at replacing my oil pressure gauge (5 bar from 83 944) to a 924S unit. They come in 10 bar units as well.

Would these be plug and play, aka read correctly?

Thanks.

The 924S oil pressure gauge is a 5 bar unit. I believe that it should be plug and play

Sorry.

I believe there was one that went to 10bar. Possibly one of the earlier 924 models.

I believe they all use the same sending unit so I should be able to plug in the 10bar unit where my 5bar one was and get a correct reading?

When I first start my car the oil pressure gauge is pegged at 5 for a few minutes, which I've read is normal for 968 engines. I'd just like to visually see the needle not flying off the edge when cold, and have a white letter orange needle gauge to match my 924S speedo/tach/multi

Might be worth checking to see if the pressure is really above 5 bar. Sounds like the oil pressure relief valve may be stuck? Put a real gauge on it.
