My guess is that English is not his first language. No offense meant, but that's my take.

How is that a reply to this thread though?

Is it just me or does the gauge pod that 9xauto is selling look different from the Lotek piece? It seems like the gauges stick out more...

[quote] WHAT THIS KIT DOES NOT HAVE
Foil, chromed plastic or two sided silver tape.
We hear people repaired their clusters using above materials. WE DO NOT USE THESE MATERIALS IN OUR KIT! Spaying your elements with silver paint will not produce needed effect and eventualy fade away. Installing brighter bulb will warp or melt your cluster, since brighter bulbs are hotter.

Spaying your dog or cat is OK, but "spaying your elements" is a bad idea evidently.

I couldn't find the gaugepods on 9xauto? Maybe he took them down?

Well, I've received an email from 9xauto, apparently angry over this thread. From its contents, I'm to believe that LoTek is angry as well, although no criticism was directed toward them, their product, or their business practices in my original post.

I cannot post the 9xAuto email to me here or I will be permanently banned from Rennlist (according to the author of the email) like many of my "friends" who apparently have already been removed...

Anyway, as an enthusiast, an aftermarket products customer, and a paying member of Rennlist because of my belief in this vehicle of information and aid to and for enthusiasts, I think it is within my rights and best interests to post my response to his email:

To - Mike, 9xAuto.
CC - Lyle at LoTek Engineering.

Well hello there mike@9xauto.com.

Thank you for your interesting, albeit unsolicited, email.
In response, let me first clarify that this issue has nothing to do with LoTek, or the product, which has met our expectations and will most likely be a popular and practical accessory for the 924/931/944/951/968 model cars.

LoTek is in the business of creating and selling gaugepods. I wish them continued success! They are certainly free to sell the product to whomever and wherever they chose, and I am in full support of this as I want to see the practical aftermarket for these vehicles grow and prosper, to the benefit of the end users. I hope they also investigate selling this product to other Porsche aftermarket suppliers, and I will be happy to supply them a list, if desired, as this is a quality product and will be appreciated by many.

My gripe is with your company, and any other similar company dealing in accessories for Porsche automobiles. A-pillar gaugepods are certainly not a new concept, and yet, when a group of enthusiasts have a need for such a product we have to have them custom-made because the aftermarket seemingly is unconcerned with developing new and needed additions to the front-engined Porsches. Why should we do your job for you and be happy when you benefit in the long run? If you were truly in the business of developing these cars like some of your competitors, YOU or a similar business would have worked with LoTek or a similar company to produce this product before now.

I notice you resell a lot of gauges for use in Porsche cars. Ever think about contacting one of the represented companies and trying to get some made to match the stock Porsche guages? At least one of the represented companies is responsive to the idea. Guess how I know? Funny you reseller-types haven't invested in a phone call on that one, as there are many of us that would pay a little extra to have our gauges match and look OEM.

My advice to you is - you should definitely carry this product. You'd be foolish not to. I also hope that other aftermarket companies pick it up as well, as several of them are enthusiasts and spend time, money and effort into developing the cars and deserve a little financial return for their hard work. I would also advise that you try to get ahead of customer demand if you get bent out of shape when people don't like your company.

Am I completely off my rocker here, being generally upset at the lack of initiative on the part of the Porsche "aftermarket"? My original sentiment (which still stands) is that we enthusiasts shouldn't have to burden ourselves developing products and then be happy at the thought of initiative-lacking resellers benefitting from it. I mean, one would think a PORSCHE ACCESSORY SUPPLIER could install and test a product it sells and use an illustration of the actual product in the appropriate vehicle... I mean, they have access to the appropriate vehicle, right?

Hi Keith,

Nobody has been chucked off of this list permanently. I had made an error in judgement by posting e-mails that were sent to me by Mike. I resolved the issue with John D., who I really can not say enough excellent things about! We all know what the feelings are about 9X Auto and I will not ever give them free advertising again by posting on this board anything about 9X Auto. Please join me in resolving to send private e-mails to anyone even thinking about doing business with 9X Auto.

The forums now posess an on-line Poll feature that allows us to run Polls on selected subjects throughout the ENTIRE Forum site. Post a satisfaction poll on customer service with "whoever". If you are the only disatisfied customer, forget your gripes and just move on, admit that a company can't make everyone happy. But if they make no one happy at all, it might make them change their business practices. If they do not change, Perhaps it won't be certain posters that are threatened with being banned, But a certain advertising banners that will no longer be posted...

Here is a possible situation that could occur. Customer buys product from sponsor "X" and is disatisfied, the credibility of the site that the sponsor was listed on is slighly damaged, This continues on for a while and begins to take on the snowball effect to the point that other sponsors pull out do to lack of customer trafic, Site content lacks due to lack of sponsorship funds, Members go to the corner and beg for tech help rather than paying for membership fees. Great forum goes under because sponsor "X" doesn't pull their head out of their a$$. I begin crying because I predicted the downfall of the greatest porsche website ever created.

I know this is exagerated but the point is clear.
