Driving the car in the winter? If not, then the bolts you got from pelican must not have been zinc'd.

But shouldn't need put anything on them, usually enough oil/grease weeps out of the CV boots and trans output shaft seals, that the bolts get a pretty good corrosion protection coating on their own.

Default Rusting CV Bolts

While I was under the car yesterday ruining the rear suspension, I noticed that the CV bolts I replaced about a year ago are starting to rust. I had snapped the originals on both sides and replaced them with bolts I ordered from pelican. Now the heads, particularly where I'll need to jam the triplesquare tool are getting pretty rusty.

Has this happened to anyone else? Should I replace these CV bolts again now while there's still a chance I can get a tool in there to bite?

I guess maybe I should bite the bullet and buy the lockers.

Must be the climate. I have some 20 year old bolts with barely any surface corrosion.

Well, that's what bothers me. The bolts I originally took out didn't seem to be all that rusty either. Granted the majority had snapped and there was a lot of grease covering everything.

I left these bolts in a relatively clean condition when I left them. Maybe I should be coating them with grease or something.
