Hello all,
First, I'd like to say I'm new to Rennlist, and I appreciate the straightforward info and professionalism of everyone here. There's none of the back-stabbing and character assasination that exists on some similar boards. How nice!
Anyhow, I hope someone can help. Problem: cold start on my '89 944S2. Takes 3-4 sessions of cranking before it fires. It shows hints of life on the first three cranks, but never catches. I have replaced the fuel filter, air filter, cap and rotor, and the plug wires were replaced in the last 10,000 miles. Could a bad DME relay be responsible? Dirty injectors? Bad coil? The Motronic brain has already been replaced, maybe 40,000 miles ago. Car has 110,000 miles on it now, and it runs flawlessly--once it starts.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Doug

Howdy, and welcome to tha list!
Maybe a leaky injector (flooded cylinder)... You could pull the plugs to check for leaking (by smell) once cooled down.
Other than that, could be the FPR (fuel pressure regulator) is sticky and doesn't want to run right away. FPR failure can casue the fuel rail pressure to be too high... shutting down the injectors... though, since you are getting occasional signs of life, that's unlikely.
Good Luck!
