Default XP/FS: New Pauter Rods 944/951/968 Custom Clevite 77 Bearings

These rods provide a partial solution to the infamous #2 rod bearing failure. Brand new special Pauter rods in standard 944 length, small and big end sizes. However, big end bearing tangs have been machined for Clevite 77 NASCAR type bearing # CB-1628 H (see picture below compared to a standard bearing/rod cap). Clevite 77 bearings are much harder and structurally an improvment over standard Glycol rod bearings. The secret is out from serious engine builders - See an in depth Rennlist discussion on the rod bearing problems at: http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforum...ring-fail.html
See posts #9, 22, 40, 84 and 102 where the use of these bearings are specifically mentioned. My machinest measured the diameter of these bearings installed in one of the rods at 2.0489 and a standard size 968 crank rod journal at 2.0489; giving a clearance of .0024 . I bought these rods from an old high dollar race team which made up three sets of rods for their efforts. These were a 'spare' set and one rod was 'borrowed' for another motor. I shipped the three rods to Pauter and he made up a new rod to match - there is a slight visual difference. The rods were rebalanced to match and they are now 692 grams total and 502 grams big end.
Looking for $850 for the set including the bearings. Shipping by Fedex at cost to CONUS only.
I also have a set of new Mahle Motorsport 3.0L turbo pistons (oversize 104.5mm) and a S2 block rough bored to fit.

Thanks, John
