Angry Alarm Bypass? (Long)

Strange thing happened today . . .going home on the Beltway (yes, DC folks!) and without warning or apparent cause the FACTORY ALARM WENT OFF! Thankfully, at 65 mph, the fuel pump didn't cut off, the horn just blew. Any ideas where the short might be?

As for the alarm bypass, after I parked the car, I got in it (alarm horn beeped when I opened the door), turned the key (horn beeped again) and the car just cranked as though the fuel pump were then cut off by a triggered alarm. After I let it sit again, it started, bbut it would have been nice to know how to by pass the alarm. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Hi The same thing happened to me last week. I'm in Balto.

I didn't fix it, but I was able to disarm it.

Under the passenger floor carpet (pull it up from the velcro near the firewall) is a plywood floor which is held by 4 screws. Then remove the metal bracket which holds the computer and the alarm. The alarm is a 2.5" x 4" black box with 2 plugs in it. One plug has about 10 or 12 wires going into it. The other plug has 2 wires. Pull the 2 wire plug and you should be fine.

Pay attention on how the bracket and the floor go together. Mine was about a 3 day ordeal and it took me awhile to figure out how to get it all back together.

Good Luck!!!

Craig
