I am re-building the motor of my 89 Turbo as I blew the head gasket plus, burnt exhaust valves, the clutch was slipping etc etc.
Quick question. Are the exhaust valves of a 951 ceramic coated? The reason I ask is that there is a layer of hard material coating the valve head and round the seat area. On some areas of the exhaust valve seats the coating has chipped off. I initailally assumed it was just burnt carbon, but I didn't want to clean it all off only to find out that they are ceramic sprayed. I can't believe that ceramic coating would survive on an exhaust valve but you never know.
thanks Richard

Yes I know that the exhaust ports have the ceramic liner but it sure looks like the exhaust valves are coated too. can anyone confirm? Anyone have a brand new valve? if so is it stainless or is it coated grey on the head?
Thanks Richard
