Help! No Oil Pressure [944]
Hello.
I have a Porsche 944, 1985. Motor 120kw 163cv.
I rebuilt the entire motor.
I put all new gaskets, seals, bushings and bearings.
It has a synthetic 10W40 oil.
The engine has started very well, without any problem, and without delay.
The oil pump has ref: 944 107 111 1R
The engine has no oil pressure, oil pressure is below 1 bar.
I've adjusted the oil pressure valve to the fullest, and got 4 bar of pressure, but after five minutes, the pressure drops below 1 bar and the red light comes on the engine.
The Hydraulic Valves Tappetss do sound, for lack of pressure.
I am desperate, do not know what else to do.
Help please.

I bet your power steering pulley is not centered on the crank - easy mistake to make, easy to fix but will give intermittant oil pressure till you fix it. The quick check is to look at the ps pulley while running, if it wobbles, you have found the problem....Bruce

Thank you all for the interest.
I have read all the documentation of Clark's Garage, and put into practice, with the same result, oil pressure below 1 bar.
- Power steering pulley does not vibrate.
- The oil pump was installed correctly with joint sealant.
I know not what else do. I'm desperate.
Please help!

Reimu is talking about the oil pump drive gear, washer and timing belt pulley. The drive gear might be slipping, or it's also possible that you've either missed the gasket around the oil pickup tube and/or your sealant for the girdle passage isn't adequate.

I'm not sure what you mean by
"I've adjusted the oil pressure valve to the fullest, "
but did you use an alignment tool for the oil pressure relief valve in oil cooler? It must not bind or it can result in lost oil pressure.

I've closed the pressure valve to the maximum, so that there is maximum pressure possible. I put washers to close the valve and for that has the maximum possible pressure.
And the most I've gotten was 4 bar pressure. But after 4 or 5 minutes, the pressure descend below 1 bar.

Why synthetic oil on a new motor? If that's the case, you need to do some reading on alusil blocks and what the break-in procedure REQUIERS. I don't think this affected your low pressure. Did you rebuild the oil pump? Replace the piston rings? Have the pickup tube magnafluxed? Clean out oil passages and replace all oil plugs ? New main and rod bearings? Reseal the girdle CORRECTLY with 574 and made sure all bearings where seated? Made sure all your rod end caps were installed correctly and rod side clearance was acceptable? Was this your first attempt on rebuilding a porsche 944 engine?
if u started with synthetic oil with NEW rings on first start up and loaded up your rings to seat them............bad bad bad
Have you verified oil pressure with a manual guage to make sure it's not a bad oil pressure sender? Why didn't you change the OPrv to an early 1 piece update when REBUILDING your motor?
Everything I mentioned cannot be overlooked while your in there . This is not a small block chevy or ford engine. It's a lot more complex
