Question Part Number on Rear Suspensions

Gentlemen--

While adjusting my parking brake and installing a new fuel filter yesterday, I noticed that the part # on my rear trailing arm (the tubular arm that goes diagonally from the frame to the hub--what's the real name?) begins with 951.###.### etc. Does this mean I have Turbo suspension parts or were they the same for all cars?

Curious--thanks, B

They are pretty much the same for all cars. The 951 part # came into being when Porsche started developing the 944 to accept the Turbo (1984). I've found that any part that *had* to be used in order to develop the Turbo chassis/direvtrain/etc will have the 951 part #. Our cars actually used part#'s from many of the Porsche lines, like the 904/8, 911, 924, 928, etc. Then further, many of the parts on the car will have VW/Audi part sequences... more proof that our heritage is just_as diverse as any other make.
