exhaust manifold studs
When replacing the exhaust manifold studs, do you use loctite on the end of the stud that goes into the cylinder head? Any tips on getting them out. A couple came out no problem, the others seem difficult. I'm replacing the head on an '83 944. Thanks for all the tips, so far!

Hi Athens
Use two (new) M8 nuts, screw them both on the stud but free from the head.
Then tighten the both nuts together and use the inner one (closest to the head) to get the stud out.
If all fails you have to drill....
Replace with stainless studs but without any loctite or equivalent..
Glue is useless here anyway since the heat in the head will deteriorate the glue after the first warm-up anyway.
Take Care
