Question Lower suspension

I've finally got round to changing the front suspension on the 944, it sat nose high so I let it settle for about 1 week, still no change and it's done 1200 miles, I know that the reason is due to the V8 but that is not the issue here, I need to loose 1 1/2 inches out of the front legs, what do you guys recomend for a daily driver that's about 1 1/2 inches to high at the front. I have replaced with stock suspension as I thought the ride hight was good, I thought about progressive springs that would allow full contact at full extension but am unsure what poundage to go for. Any ideas or thoughts on the suspension upgrade!

What model year? Does it have a v-8 too? You replaced the front suspension with stock, right?

Check out this suspension info. Pay special attention to "Measuring Ride Height". It has ideal ride height numbers in it, but I do not know what stock was.

Is this a 944 or 924? Either way, you could lower the front by using the shorter-than-stock Weltmeister springs (same ID, available in 200# or 250#... OE is ~160#) This'll give just over an inch of lowering. For the back, you'll get a max of 7/8" of lowering out of the eccentric... 1 1/2" would require indexing the torsion bars.

Alternatively, and more comprehensively... you could install a ride-height adjustable collar (w/springs and hats included... changes to 2.5" ID... available from 200-600#) Then, drop the rear as low as it'll go evenly... then drop the front to match... since they're adjustable, you can get it "spot-on"

Cheers!

Nice idea Skip, I spent all day machining some top hats and adjusters for the stock shocks, bingo! all seems well and I nicked the adjustable collars from an old set of AVO's that were scrap. Started at 220 lbs front springs but seem a little stiff, What's the standard spring stiffness at the front, the car is (or was) 944 N/A 1986. Only problem I have will be if I go skyward will the springs pop out, I could always make compression units to stop suspension going full travel and therefore keeping the spring in situ. Any one had expierience of this?

Stock springs were ~160. Normal upgrades from Weltmeister and others are 200,220,250, 260. Shouldn't have a problem with springs popping out while the car is lowered/loaded... though, not sure if I understand you correctly. If you look at my setup, the spring are always located at the top when the car is lifted... they are zip-tied to the top hats, which are held in place by the Koni bump stops. Some folks use helper springs to push the springs up when unloaded also, but they're more trouble than they're worth IMHO.

Good Luck!

Thanx, gone down to 170 and it is far less twitchy but still skittish so will try for 150 and hope it's aomewhere near, yeet to put it on the scales so I'll load the suspension accordingly.
