Hi all,
Wondering what are the inclusive set of manuals for the S2. I see a multi-volume set being advertised for ~$299 but I am also see manuals being sold on e-bay such as "89-91 PORSCHE 944 PARTS ILLUSTRATION MANUAL" and "944 S2 Porsche Cabriolet 1990, 91 manual Top".
Can someone define what is/are the inclusive manual set(s) for the S2.
Thanks

Just noticed that Bryan Welsch's post of 6/28 asks this same question and that Michael Stephenson gives a very thorough and complete answere to it. Sorry to all for re-posting this question ... must be the post accident drugs :-(

I am sort of a publication junkie and I have a copy of "89-91 PORSCHE 944 PARTS ILLUSTRATION MANUAL".
It does not have an index to look up drawings and without knowing "the code" to diciphering the different drawings or without having a reference to the different drawings, I have found the book to be useless for research. I can not even tell if a given illustration is for an N/A, A turbo, or an S2.
However, it is kinda interesting to look at the illustrations.
If someone out there knows how to use the manual. please let me know.

The set of manuals (6) cover engine, electrical, general body such as doors, sun roof, ect., and frame components such as suspension. There are removal and installation guides (although these can be somewhat sparse in detail) and adjustment information. Shop around for a better price. I paid $225 for mine last year. Don't know where you are looking but at this site: http://www.my-porsche.com/technical/tech2.htm they are only $224. The Parts and Technical Reference Catalog 1977 - 1988 is a great item. It is no longer published so I would get that one. While there may be some specific S2 parts not in this book, this will at least get you in the ball park when getting an item. There are some nice tips in there also. There are no paper books like this for the S2; all the parts info is on microfich; at least this is my assumption. Everytime I buy a part thats what the parts guys is looking it up on. I want a set of what he has but he says the version of his guides are not available.
There is nothing worth having on the aftermarket as far as repair manuals so save your time looking - been there, done that. There are some very good web sites though.

Hope these help. I have a '90 S2 and love it. Don't tell my wife but I probably won't ever sell this car, just buy another one.

Just a quick reminder that the Turbo Supplement is needed as well as the regular 6 volume set. A "must have" if you are going to work on the 4 piston Brembo brakes.

There are several suppliments out there for the 944 Cab. The 24 pg. one goes for about $15 and talks mainly about the top and associated parts. There is a 64 pg. publication WKD-495-721 that covers everything that the smaller one does and more. So you only need this one. It cost me $25. The other publication you should think about getting is the Service Information/Technical Bulletins. It's around $25 as well. Lots of appliciable info regarding upgrades and mid year fixes. For my 1990 it was Book G/PNA-000-082-A. I got it from www.my-porsche.com.
