Question Common causes of hesitation

I noticed lately that my '84 944 is having hesitation problems while I'm driving. Sometimes on the freeway I can feel it hesitate and go back to normal. It happens frequently at stop lights.
I was wondering if anyone know the common causes of hesitation on these cars so I can start narrowing down the causes. Igntion wires, fuel regulator, plugs, ignition module, coil, air flow meter, etc ??

Thanks

Casper

New plugs and wires can sometimes be a quick fix to hesitation problems. I just replaced mine and was surprised at the difference - particularly shifting between 1st and 2nd.

As mentioned, plugs, plug wires, vacuum leaks. Also dist. cap & rotor; dirty injectors; dirty throttle body.

Jim, take your pick....
