Post reverse lights

My reverse lights are constantly staying on. Prior to this they never worked (recently bought the car). I went to the trans and plugged in the two wires. Since then, as soon as I turn the car on, the reverse lights go on. When i switch into reverse, the lights still stay on. Whats going on?

I would say you have a stuck switch.

I'm not sure where it is and the Haynes book doesn't show either (I couldn't find it if it does) trace the wires that you connected and that should go to the switch, it should be around the on the transaxel but I'm not shure (the book list a torque spec. for the backup light switch in the transmission section, 22 ft-lbs.) O I found it! it's on top of your transmission (looking at the book and typing ) it doesn't tell what side its on but it looks like it's above the right side axel.

Hi Sajid:
Switch is on the tranny, top right side, just above the CV joint.
"Switch" on the left side is the speed sensor.
Take care
