Post Throttle Cam Question

I want one of these. Paragon has them for $35.95 and Zim's has them for $25.95. Zim's is drilled with multiple holes and both supplier's part is aluminum color. Fine. But I seem to remember somebody had one in Red anodize - kewl

My car is red and I'd like a red one. Anyone know where to get this? It's obviously not that important but I'd like to have it if it is available. Help appreciated.

P.S. Noticed that Skip cut the top off his stock air filter housing when he installed his K&N. Got me thinking that when I switch over to a K&N I might use a pin bit in a router to cut nicely finished, even slots or even the word
P-O-R-S-C-H-E in it. Kind of hokey. Maybe just progressively longer slots, maybe diagonally. Would this help? I liked Skip's idea but not the look of the entire top being off.

You can modify your stock throttle cam to work like the circular ones. None of them add any HP

I modified my throttle cam with a drill press and a hacksaw in about 10min. Not red, but no charge.

The funny thing is, the next time I drove the car I had to remind myself that I had done this as there was no real difference in response when doing actual driving.

Johnkuhn2, I also have a '93 S4. How many miles on yours? If you want to talk about it, I am at art@zibracorp.com I have a few questions that I am having a hard time with. There are no good bulletin boards like this for the Audi that I have found. E-mail list are too brutal.

I did the custom job on mine. I wanted to get a feel for what is was like before spending 30 bucks on a nice looking one. I'll post a pic.

John , Yes I know it adds no HP. As for self modifying - hate to be stupid, but here goes. I'm clear you saw off the arm or ramp, then drill a hole for the throttle cable termination, right? Question is how to know WHERE to drill the hole? Or is this self evident when you do it/doesn't matter where?

As for red, if I do it myself I gues I could use some of my Scratchpaint.com Guards Red on it...would probably look lame though!

I didn't cut the arm off; I didn't want to ruin it if the mod was not to my taste. I drilled a new hole for the tab that comes off the throttle shaft and drilled a new hole for the cable end. I used to hacksaw to cut from the outer edge into the new hole for the cable end.

Someone else mentioned flipping it over, but that did not seem to be the right move. The new holes are only about 30° apart from the original ones.

The only differences it makes are to make the response more linear so it takes less foot movement it increase revs. This is most evident when blipping the throttle during downshifts. It also affects the angle of your ankle during cruising if the autopilot isn't enfaged.

If you didn't cut the arm off are you sure you changed anything? The main difference is that the response cam is round while the stock cam has that arm on it that takes more cable in the first 3/4 of the pedal movement.

By the way the stock cam on the 944S (and I presume the 944S2) is round.
