Post Torquing angle

While I am getting ready to remove the head on my 90 S2 I have been looking ahead in the manuals. When I found the specs for the head bolts I find 15# 1st stage then 60 degrees torquing angle 2nd stage then 90 degrees 3rd stage. What does this mean??? Anyone know what torque specs are for this head in ftlb's. THANKS

Torque Angle is relatively simple. You properly torque the studs to the proper spec in the first step[check the manual, you will need to use the right lubricant and most likely use new washers and nuts]. Then for the additional stages simply turn the nuts with your breaker bar the additional X degrees. So 90 degree torque angle means turn an additional 1/4 turn.

Wink

Snap-on makes a nice torque angle guide that fits on the end of a breaker bar.Do not try to torque your head by sight and feel alone. You will do more harm then good.
