Lightbulb ZF Steering Rack Kit

Anyone know of distributors for a reseal kit for the 944 power assist steering rack and pinion assembly...?
After diassembling one a few years back and finding I could not source the parts I replaced one with a clean used unit, only because I was able to remove it from the donor car myself, a low milage turbo car, and knew the history of it.
The alternatives are, new, used, or rebuilt, which require a core, or core charge and are pretty pricey.
I'm in the transmission repair business and the teflon seals don't look too "special", so I contacted a company in Ohio and they have a kit.
So I ordered one, and will know in a couple of days if contents are what I'm looking for.

Anyone else curious, or interested in one of these reseal kits..?

I resealed mine about 8 months ago. The seal kit I got did come with the teflon seals for both the rack piston and pinion valve body (or whatever their proper names are). you will still need the copper crush washers for the pressure and return lines. I would also recommend getting the updated banjo bolts with the hex heads if you don't already have them. They were much easier to deal with than the allen heads that came stock in mine.

I'm interested in a reaseal kit, my rack has developed a slow leak. I plan on rebuilding it when I do my engine swap. If you could provide the part number and source I would appreciate it!

The place I got my seal kit from is kaufman products. I talked to a guy there named Tom. The kit was like 60.00 delivered COD IIRC. I think they are a distributor and Tom just took care of me on the side. Their web site is:

Another source is Transtec. Their web site is:

They didn't have a kit when I did mine, but they show one online now.

Transtec/Freudenburg NOK makes the seals and teflon rings for the other distributors.
I use their products every day in automatic transmissions, and the quality and service are second to none, IMO..
They quoted me $28.20 for the kit, I don't know if this is retail or jobber cost, but I was thinking about getting a dozen or so kits, after I inspect the contents for coverage.
I currently have 3 944's, and 2 of them have a leak to some degree at the rack.
I may do a step by step with digital pictures, and procedure, supplied with a kit for $60 or so, if this thread shows a serious interest.
Post here if interested..
