I just walked in the door from a visit to Meister Restorations Corp. in NH 603-776-3561, and I saw at least six 356's and a 911 in various stages of restoration, the paint was "flawless". Jerry told me he uses a "wet on wet" system ie;color coats, with FINAL coat being clearcoated about an hour after the final coat which allows the color and clearcoat to bond together and then be buffed or compounded as necessary, although from what I saw he didn't have much to do except watch it dry!! He seemed a decent guy, give him a call. Jim

Wet on wet is a 2 stage system of a base coat and clear coat. I have shot many cars in this fashion.
I have done some single stage work, but never found the gloss or depth to match the base/clear system. The hang up is that on the 944, the single stage Glasurit was very close to that of a 2 stage depth, thus the reason I want more info. (and I'd like to keep it stock)

How much weight does paint add anyway? I'm getting desperate for weight savings in preparation for the Open Track Challenge. I'm thinking about just bare carbon-fibre panels with no paint or gel-coat even...
