I'm currently doing exactly the same, replacing my stock calipers with turbo calipers.. But that's because i'm adding the 3l 16v turbo so braking at 270 will be better with the turbo calipers.. And they just look cool.. And i got a really good deal!

If you're going to do it the budget way, get used calipers, used rotors and used pads.. Than the hubs/spindels.. I've got them for a good price but i'm not sure about what the cost normally would be.

I'm getting all of this on in about 4 weeks so i can get some pictures!

Does anyone make a front hub for the early 944's (prior to '85) that allows you to replace the rotor without having to also dismount the hub/bearings?

I'm getting these at some point in the near future.

All told, about a grand will get you lightweight 4 piston calipers on all four corners with slightly larger front rotors.

Are those commercially available? What rotors are used?

I made a couple extra sets and have these as spare. They use any over-the-hub porsche rotor.

Those are really nice xschop. Do you use the wheel studs from the old hub?

You mean these kind of rotors?

Would the turbo brake set up be worth the money if i'm planning on getting more horsepower down the road? Or would the Wilwood brakes be sufficient enough for a higher horsepower car?

Horsepower has NOTHING to do with brakes. Whats the difference between a car that has 1000hp vs one with 100hp stopping 60mph-0mph? 100mph-0mph? You're NA brakes are plenty for a stock, or modded NA. I would focus on just normal brake maintenance such as: new lines, good pads, fresh fluid etc...

Here's a decent read on brakes: http://www.myturbodiesel.com/1000q/brake_FAQ.htm and: http://www.mgf.ultimatemg.com/group2...Big_Brakes.htm

Partially correct. 60-0 is the same..IF you are on the track on that same old straight away you did with your 150hp car, then try it again in your 350hp car, you may not make the turn unless you start stopping much much sooner than before as you will be able to reach a higher speed in that same back straight.

Really, I would think a 1000hp car would be generating a lot more torque than the 100hp car at any identical speed. Isn't that torque at the flywheel going to find its way to the rear wheels when you brake? (Asuming you don't put the clutch in or the shifter in neutral).

I've got a set of 951 brakes for sale. Late offset though. Hubs, spindles, calipers, pads, rotors..all used and calipers, pads, spacers for the rear and new rotors.

Also got a set of early offset hubs and spindels to keep the original offset for the front.

My wife wants space in our new garage. Sorry for the troll.

wow that seems pretty convenient! How much would you want for everything? And how much would it take for an amateur to install it all?
