Tapping/ticking noise

Adding the seafoam to the crankcase and fuel tank went well. It seemed to make the car run a little smoother; there wasn't any more smoke than normal so I guess that's good. When it came time to add it to the brake booster though, i let it sip a little bit at a time but each time it would hiccup and shoot smoke right back out of the hose... needless to say I stopped after like 2 tiny sips. Is that normal? Am I doing something wrong? There's a section of hose connecting to the brake booster via a nipple to a plastic connector thing (check valve?) that connects to another section of hose. I bypassed the plastic connector when I let it sip the Seafoam. Oh yeah, the engine died like 2 seconds after I disconnected the section of hose from the plastic connector (which to my knowledge is normal?). The engine stayed on when I partially covered hose with my thumb, at which point I added seafoam, which shot right back out in smoke form.
