3RD Brake Light
I'm up-dating the '84 with a third brake light that I purchased from Pelican Parts. It comes with white two-sided tape. I don't want to see the white tape through the rear glass. It would look so much better with black two-sided tape. I've looked for some with no success. How did the factory adhere the light to the rear glass? I've even thought about painting the inside of the glass black where the tape meets the glass so that the tape will be hidden from view. Ideas anyone?

I bought some black two sided tape, I think by 3M, from Home Depot last week. It was in the paint section and labeled for outdoor use. I think it's about 3/4" thick so you can trim it to fit.
I used it to put a drip rail on a shower door. So far it hasn't fallen off or drooped one bit even after being subjected to hot showers. I'd suggest you try this stuff. Note: they also make it in clear.
Another idea would be for you to use rearview mirror glue. You can get it from Walmart or any autoparts supply house.

Tried this numerous times in various cars: even UV resistant tape came off within a couple of months.
Mine is an generic LED bar, I made some (aluminum) brackets and fastened the thing on the roof panel, not on the hatch.
works great now...
