Post HELP! Problems after installed a chip!

Hi! I got a Europroducts chips kit from HPchips(which is two chips-DME&KLR with shims) However, I have some problems after insatlled the chips. The car at first 20 km after the chip
installed feels so good...and I turned the car off..! After few hrs, i turned the car on, the idle went up to like 3000rpm...and it went down to 1200rpm after a while...then I drove the car....I dun know why, all of a sudden, the rpm can't go pass 2000rpm, once it hits 1800rpm, it feels like the gas is cut off or something, so basically, the car is
like un-drivable...! I follow all the instructions from the manual comes with the kit....! Did I do something wrong? Or there is something wrong with my car?? Please keep in mind that I didn't installed the shims yet, will this cause the problem I have now?? I am kinda worrying about the situation I have...! In fact, for a while it goes back to normal for a while, then the gas is cut off once pass 1800rpm again....! And, it's like(even when it's kinda normal) below 3000rpm, there is couples "flat-spot" between the idle and 300orpm.(the situation is like
gas cut-off, but it eventually can pass 3000rpm when i press the gas deeper) Please help me out...I am kind aanxious about the situation Thanx.....!

Hi,
The only way to go is to reinstall the original chips to see if the car is running
O.K.

Use some insurance. It is possible to fry certain parts of the dme boxes with built up static electricity. I don't know if you did this or not. You can get a piece of wire at radi0o skack for $3 that attaches to your wrist and to the fram of car to discharge any static. Call HPchips or Europroducts also to see whay they say. Good luck.

I have also Europroducts chips installed on my '88 951.They have worked just fine.Did you olso install the shims included this kit?
Since you have reinstall original chips seems to me the problem is not necesserily with the chips. There might be a problem with DME unit itself. It is quite deligate "instrument" and i have been seen quite few units which are ruined just because chip installation (static electricity). You just have to ground yourself propebly !!!

One thing you should check out:Be absolutely sure you have installed chips right way !If your car worked for a while i suppose this is not a problem.I have seen several DME boxes withs chips installed wrong way. This can even cause some other components "burn down" in these boxes.Try to locate fellow 951 owner who can give his boxes for a test drive in your car. This is the best way to find out if your DME/KLR boxes are deffective.
