Post Over-boost?

I was out driving yesterday and during an open stretch of road down-shifted to 4th and nailed it. The motor started pulling and then started to cut out. I looked at the guages and boost was pegged. Was this the computer saving my butt? Tech info: chipped and LBE at factory setting. No other mods.

Any help or advice appreciated. No noticable noises or problem signs after that incident.

Thanks in advance,

Mike R.

My '89 951s has a autothority stage 2 chip. I recently went back to the stock intake (it had the K&N conversion that came with the chip installed) and I got the same exact problem which you're talking about. The reason that I removed the K&N conversion was that it was positioned in front of the engine and was sucking in hot air (power loss). I plan on buying/having made a intake that runs into the fender (cold air intake the way the factory did it, just with a K&N cone instead).

Do you have a K&N conversion installed or are you running the stock intake? I dont think aftermarket chips have boost limiters.

Driving TO my destination I would have this boost problem, driving BACK I wouldn't. Does anybody have any ideas for Mike and I?

thanks for any suggestions

Booster,

I always run Sunoco Ultra 94 octane. Have never used anything lower.
