Wheels - refinish
I am looking for comments on refinishing 951 Turbo S (euro) wheels. These wheels are referred to as "Club Sport", or "Silver Rose Forged" alloys.
The production finish is anodized grey-silver. The refinishing options I know of (in the UK) are:
I have seen some really nicely refinished wheels on a Silver Rose concourse car (at the PCGB Highclere event July 21-22 2001). These looked to be painted rather than anodized, but the colour and finish were near perfect (as was the car). Would like to hear from this guy if he is reading. Otherwise, looking for some input on what is the best option and who to speak to (in the UK).
TIA

- machine back, and apply LAQUER
- machine back and PAINT
- machine back, clean and RE-ANODIZE

You have a fourth option:
Find an anodizing shop and have them removing the original anodisation.
Then polish the wheels and have them re-anodized again.
re-apply laquer as required.
Re-machining can do funny things to wheels (and is illegal in most countries).
Not cheap but will give the best result.

Thanks for the tip.
The reason or the machining was really to get rid of the oxidisation - which is the main reason for the re-finish.
I am sure there is an alternative solution to machining - probably abrasive polishing.
Tx
