Default Track/DD minimal ac system?

I am getting the final pieces of my 944 put together but the ac doesn't work. Before I begin trouble shooting it, I was wondering if there is a lighter/less power hungry option for a track car. I do want air conditioning since I plan I using this to DD in the summer but I don't need the heat since I will not drive it during winter. Is there a simple more minimal solution? I do live in Minneapolis (rarely gets over 95) and it is mainly a garage car.

The AC and heat systems are somewhat different... In early cars they are completely separate units.

If it rarely gets over 95, then why not omit it and save the weight?
