Here are a few rare ones that nobody ever seems to mention:

The Last Chase - Lee Majors is a retired Can Am driver in a post-apocalyptic world wherein cars have been outlawed. He digs up the 917 he buried under his garage and makes a journey across the US to reach the last bastion of car drivers in California. Burgess Meredith tries to stop him in an F4 Phantom, if I recall correctly.

King of the Mountain - Harry Hamlin has a sweet 356 prepped for road racing and is trying to dethrone Dennis Hopper's 67 Corvette as the fastest car on the road (Mulholland Drive, I believe).

Middle Age Crazy - Bruce Dern enters his midlife crisis by purchasing a 928 and having an affair with a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader.

In "Backdraft" a black 944 gets messed up when the first victims house is blown to bits...I think it was the victim's car.

Robby,

Ahh, so it IS an auto. in "sixteen candles". As for the 968 cab. in "The Specialist"(is this the movie where James Woods is the bad guy and it is his car?)if it is the color is "Violet".

Eric--It is always interesting to watch Chips and check out the backgrounds for some cool cars.

Sandra Bullock looks pretty sweet driving a 356 in "A Time to Kill."

Eric,

Strangely enough, it seems to be an auto- I don't know why they would do that though, unless the actor who drove it couldn't drive a stick (or something) himself- I mean they threw in the "stickshift" line, and the auto's are pretty rare in these cars... I don't know if anyone else knows this or not, but Henry Winkler couldn't ride a motorcycle, so they used a special contraption to hold him up on one when they filmed the scenes in "Happy Days"- if you'll notice, you'll never see him riding around on the bike w/the whole thing in view (wheels touching the ground, etc...) I saw that on a '70's show recap...

The Specialist was the one where James Woods was the bad guy, and he drags Sharon Stone into setting up Sylvester to try to catch him- I always thought the car looked like it was kind of a rust color or something, but maybe it is violet- Porsche had some pretty unique colors around that time....

Robby,

Yeah, I saw that samw thing about the "Fonz" and his dislike of motorcycles. The only time he did actually ride the bike is for the shots during the credits, and the creator(Marshall) said that he laid the bike down!! What a punk.
As for the auto. vs. stick dialouge in "sixteen candles", I remember watching an episode of "90210"(don't ask--you do alot of dumb things for women) and it was concerning "street racing" and someone challenged Steve to a race, because "everyone knows he drives a ZR-1"--I guess everyone failed to notice that his Vette is both an auto and a convertible, and the ZR-1 was only available as a 6-spd. coupe. .

Unhappy

Just recently I saw "The Replacements" with Keanu Reeves and Gene Hackman. I thought I saw a 996 getting shot up. (ouch!)

Eric,

I've only seen a few 90210 episodes (maybe 10)- I know what you mean about the things we have to put up w/to get along w/women

Anyway, I saw one where he raced his girlfriend in that car- she drove a Miata, and he was egging her on about his "big V-8" and how her little 4 banger could never keep up w/a real man's car... They ended up racing, and were neck in neck, and got caught by a cop- they had to go to driving school. Well, she asked the officer if he could tell who was winning when he actually saw them, and he said that she was- funny scene, but there's no way a ZR-1 should EVER have any problems beating a stock Miata. As for the automatic trans- I didn't know that, but now that you mention it, I haven't ever heard of one w/anything but a 6-speed. Good eye...
