I want to buy this Porsche which seems to be in pretty decent condition. The problem is when you change gears, up or down, the whole car lurches forward (like you downshifted w/o rev-matching). It feels like there is play between the motor and the transmission. When you accelerate after changing gear it feels like someone is slamming the gas, then off, then back on. Not too many bad noises, just bangs a little on gear changes. This would make me think it is the clutch that is bad but it feels like it works fine
. Idles fine @ 1000. Insight greatly appreciated.

When you get on the gas (after a gear change) the car bucks back/forth a couple times. After the initial few jerks, it accelerates really smoothly. The car also revs perfectly in neutral, very smooth. I guess my other question is if the AFM (air flow meter), spark plugs, fuel pump/injectors, or anything else in the engine was bad, would it make the car jerk like that and still rev nicely in neutral and hold a steady idle. It really feels like the trans.

+1 - These are normal signs of a rubber clutch going south - "Not too many bad noises, just bangs a little on gear changes. This would make me think it is the clutch that is bad but it feels like it works fine"

Yup, sounds like the rubber center clutch is shot and you are bouncing off the safety get home tabs on the clutch disc. They will fail shortly completely and leave it stranded.
