Stopped by the local Porsche Dealer today. I almost had to cry. I parallel parked between two 993 Turbo's and then two my left was a brand new 996 Turbo. I was feeling a little, you know, inadequate. After checking them out I went in a picked up my parts. When I came out, there was a older guy checking out my car. He asked what year it was and informed me had owned an 88 Turbo in the same color. He told me, it was one car he wish he had never gotten rid of. We talked about 944's for a few minutes, were he said he had to get going. He then walks around and gets in the black 993 Turbo sitting infront of my car.
Moral of this story? None really. Just thought it was cool that someone was checking out my "bastard" Porsche when there were three far superior machines sitting around it. And that the owner of one, one of the so called snobby 911 drivers, was admiting in public, that he really enjoyed and missed his 944. I'm sure he could have another if he wanted it.

Even among the greats it's a car a real enthusiast can't ignore.
