Do you guys have any advice on what i should do or get checked on this car(I already had a mechanic look at it and everything was fine,wp and belts were replaced 10k ago) thanks for the help

Congratulations on the new purchase. If you are looking for a quick & easy performance increase that is relatively inexpensive (< $1K) and you want to do that pending clutch job sooner than later I would personally:

a) Find a set of used Stage II automotion/weltmeister chips for the 86-88 951. ($100-200)

b) Install a new Bosch 3 bar FPR (or an adjustable model if you want to spend some more money) ($70-$170)

c) Hook up an good external boost guage (< $100)

d) Install Lindsey Racing's 951 wastegate along with a manual boost controller. ($460)

As far as mechanicals are concerned, pull the air box and the intake plumbing off, check all the water hoses, air intake hoses, vacuum lines, and the air bypass valve. Repair and replace as needed and then tie wrap the connections on all the vacuum lines that carry boost. If the plug wires are shot, Windward(sp?) Performance sells a good set of Magnecore wires for about $100.

Have fun.

I forgot to also mention, before you make any mods, make sure the car runs OK now. The maximum boost for a stock 86 951 is about 1.7 bar as read on the dash guage. If it reads around 1.2 bar you have some repair work to do. Find someone local to you that has a good running 951 and see if he/she will let you ride/drive it to compare performance. You will feel the difference if your car is off.
