HEy guys - anyone know if there was a change in hue of Porsche's (or Sikkens) Guards Red through the years? I am used to the TOMATO-red on the early 951, but I recall seeing a REDDER (less orange) Guards Red on some newer models (911s?)...
anyone else notice this?

Keith,
I have noticed this too. I thought it was perhaps UV and time taking its toll. However, I recall reading something by someone who claimed there was a change in the color formulation. Try a post on the 911 Forum to see if this claim is fact or fiction.

There have been different color codes for "red" http://porsche-944-garage.tripod.com/
go to BODY-02, paint codes.
If the color has changed than the paint code will change with it.
Looking through the list I noticed that Guards red (LM3A) was only supplied in '82-83. Later was India red (LM3A), perhaps someone objecting guards?
ROW versions did not have guards red, the color was named Indigo red (IIRC). Still puzzled, same color?
