I bought my max jack system from them. No problems.

I prefer the lifts where the cables go across the top as it keeps the floor area clear. Looks like they had a 7k pound unit for that price

It looks like they are the same price either way you go. The one that runs accross the floor needs less ceiling height. I will have to do some measuring.

I'm not sure if it fits your needs, but have you seen the mid-rise and high-rise scissor lifts? They're compact and look pretty functional. I thought I remember seeing another post recently about them.

I'm really leery of lifts where they provide no structural details. Check out Backyard Buddy or American Custom Lifts, Made in USA and by all reports very stout. A lift isn't a place to scrimp. Backyard Buddy has lots of structural details on their website, for instance: http://www.backyardbuddy.com/side-by-side-comparison/

I called them and they are aboiut $4500. I can not spend that much so I likely need to be looking in the used market if I want to get a better build qaulity for under $1400.

Howdy, Folks

I sell, service and install lifts as part of my living. I always get asked can you get me such and such a part for my never heard of em lift...Moral of the story is buy what you've heard of. I sell Challenger and Rotary, and my customers know 50 years from now I can easily get them parts. Seriously, every swinging d sells a lift and quickly goes out of business...Moral of this story, you get what you pay for.

Last I checked they had a two-post for about $2500?

Rotary is for sure the gold standard. I'd buy a 50-yr-old used Rotary over chinese crap any day.

This is spot on. Do you trust your life (or car) on a $1400 lift? I have a couple of cheap lifts in my shop (came with the building) that we are trying to change out asap as funds allow. They are scarey as hell compared to the rotary's, and like gwest said, impossible to get replacement parts for.

Spend a little more and get a quality lift, it will pay for itself quickly.

Agree, wait a while and get a decent one. You shouldn't be compromising on a lift.

Have you tried looking in the used market? I've definitely seen used lifts from well-known manufacturers, in good shape for sale of craigslist from time to time in about that price point.. I'd rather a used but good lift over a brand new crappy one. Just my $0.02

What does it cost to have a 2 post lift professionally installed and who would do that sort of job? Is there a certain depth of concrete slab required? Novice questions but I'd like to know, it's not a job many people would feel comfortable in undertaking.

From what I have seen so far the standard is at least 4 in. concrete. I don't think installing would be hard at all.

I am a believer that you get what you pay for. One difference for me would be that I would not be using it all the time a like a pro shop would be. Do you know of or have any opinion on the Workhorse pallet jack style lift? It is 6000lbs which would cover most cars. I sure like its portability. I have heard good things from users. They go for around $2700. Here is a pic of one.
