Default Koni Stuts

I have an 87 951 with the Koni front struts (951 343 031/32 08). One is leaking so I want to change both. Besides replacing them, is there any way to fix them for a little less money?

I believe the Koni struts have a replaceable insert, so you only need to replace the shock insert, not the entire strut. Not sure if the Koni struts are rebuildable, but unlikely DIY since they are gas pressurized.

I believe the one ones are rebuildable, however it would cost less and be a lot less down time to put the "hacksaw" inserts in. They are wonderful by the way. That is what I have in my car.

As mentioned above, with original Koni housings, you have a couple choices. As with the Sachs strut, you can install the Koni 8641-1414 Sport inserts:

our online tutorial on installation:

The other option is to send them to Koni for rebuild. You will then have several choices...to rebuild them as they were, to convert them to external rebound adjustment, to change the valving or even to convert to double adjustable. The more you want done, the more it costs. If that option sounds attractive you can call Koni after the holidays and they should be able to give you and idea as to cost and turnaround time.
