Default How do I test fuel pressure?

I want to test the fuel pressure at the rail on my 86 951. Can I just buy any fuel pressure tester at Sears and will it easily attach to the end of the rail?

The rail is M12x1.5, so you will need a metric adapter. Most fuel pressure gauge kits will use NPT fittings but some 'master kits' will come with metric also.

Incase you want to test fuel pressure on boost.. ..

The Star Hoffman i got from JC Whitney screws right on the the rail and works perfectly but I can't find it on their site. You might try the one from Pelican. It's also ok to use any old fuel pressure meter and cut the end of the hose and jam it on the threaded fitting, and hose clamp it on if you are certain it won't leak and you don't crush the fitting by over tightening the clamp.
Whatever you do, have a fire extinguisher handy between you and the exit.

The tester gtroth posted looks like the one that works for CIS systems also, so it will work on the 931 you will thinking about also; wink-wink.

Very happy with my blue adapter from 9xauto and prosport electronic gauge. Now I always know if I have fuel pressure, and what it is!

I hate fuel (smell), so now I don't have to crack open the rail or worry about anything unless something NEEDS replacing.

Since I already had a fuel pressure guage, I ended up making an adapter by cutting off a pc of 1" round aluminum bar stock and drilling and tapping it for the correct thread size on both ends.

I rented a tester today. It only has male 12x5 adapters. I need a female fitting to go on the end of the fuel rail. The kit had a fitting that I thought might work.. I disconnected the fuel line at the FPR and I attached a short rubber fuel line to the FPR and then stick the fitting into the rubber fuel line and attach the other end of the fitting into the fuel line that attaches to the FPR. The fitting has a schrader valve that I attach the gauge to. The pressure read zero. Should I have had a pressure reading hooking the gauge up this way?
