Default Need quick help/answer - new fuel filter, why so different looking?

I ordered a new bosche fuel filter off rockauto (PN# 0 450 905 021) [also has written on it #889.22.2.37, not sure significance of that number] and it is much different than my old filter. It is smaller in diameter but looks like it will fit... Is this the right size to fit my car??

I just replaced my fuel filter... got it from Suncoast and it was the exact size as the old one.

I have gotten incorrect parts from Rock Auto before... They don't have the best database when it comes to cross-referencing Porsche and VW parts. I've gotten parts they insist will work, but the parts don't - I'm talking like 3 bolt holes vs 4... YMMV.

Haha. I ended up driving 45 minutes to an o'reily that had it in stock (wix filter, looks same as oem). The rockauto one was 4 bucks anyway so no biggie.
