Default Lug studs question

So I've got some 7 mm spacers that I wanted to put on the front.
after installation, I really think it's unsafe to drive like this, as the lug stud is only going half way through the nut.

So I need some longer lug studs.

If my math is good, the oem studs are 14mm +7mm spacer = 21 mm needed lug studs.

As anybody has a good source (and cheap) to get those? I need 10 of those.

I went on ebay, couldn't really find anything, and what I did found was a bit expensive.

oem studs are 50mm . Next size up are the 66mm studs found on the rear of early 944's . You could try to source them from someone parting an early 944 (ask on pelican, there has to be someone that has them) or buy them new (paragon has all sizes ).

thanks, so math wasnt good.

I meant to say 45mm not 14mm.

I've been looking around, and pelican parts, or others are saying OEM = 45mm

are you sure about the 50mm?

Catalin, not that I don't trust you, but:

Can anybody else confirm the length of my front wheel studs on my 86, 951. 100% I have the OEM.

Is it 45mm or 50mm?

I can't say from experience as i never removed the front studs ,only the rears and the rears are in fact 45mm.
I just passed along the info listed on paragon http://www.paragon-products.com/Whee...331.671.00.htm

Ouch. Hold up for another day or so. I bet someone here has some laying around that could sell you 10 for alot less than $100. Heck I might even have some will look. After parting out three cars in the saga to make mine I can't recall if I sold all the old long ones I removed or not.

My '86 NA had 45mm studs in the front. You're supposed to only measure the shank part - not the head.

The rears are 66mm because there's a 21mm spacer (45+21=66).

My personal feeling... studs hold the wheels on. Wheels are important. Is your safety worth $70? (Paragon sells the 66mm studs for $6.91 each.)

Late offset cars use 52mm lugs on the front, which sounds perfect for you. Here's a thread I started a while back: Late Offset Wheel Stud Length

Pelican has them for $8.25/ea. If you're interested in my used ones we can probably make a deal.

thanks guys.

I've bought some 1'' bolt-on spacers from xsboost90 for the back. I had those 7mm spacers at the back before, and it wasn't enough.

I'm running some 951 fuchs, made for the 86 turbo.

The back looks amazing now with the 1'' spacers. And the front could use a 7mm now.

I'm gonna wait for the car to be park for the winter before doing anything (only a month to go).

then I'll remove the front studs and will be able to see what length I really need.

I bought a kit off of ebay that really helped reinstalling the studs.

Here it is at Amazon:
Kastar 755 Wheel Stud Installer Kastar 755 Wheel Stud Installer
(I think I got it ~$10 cheaper on ebay)
